Da Gama: vasco da gama (about 1460- 1524) was a Portuguese navigator and an early colonist, who opened a sea route from western Europe to India. 1497 was ordered by the king to lead the fleet from Lisbon, bypassing the Cape of Good Hope and arriving in Mozambique the next year. Later, with the help of the Arab navigator Ahmed bin Majid, commonly known as Ibn Majid, he finally arrived in Kalikut, an important town in southwestern India, and returned full of exchanged gems and spices. He sailed to India twice in 1502 and 1524, and finally died in the post of Portuguese governor in India. The route he opened promoted the development of business relations between Europe and Asia.
Li Daoyuan: When Li Daoyuan was young, he read wonderful books. When I was young, I went to Shandong with my father to seek waterways. Later, he traveled the Qinling Mountains, north of Huaihe River and south of the Great Wall, inspected rivers and ditches, collected relevant customs, historical stories and myths and legends, and wrote 40 volumes of notes about water mirrors. Moreover, his writing is meaningful and vivid, which is not only a colorful geographical work, but also a collection of excellent landscape prose. It can be regarded as the pioneering work of China's tourism literature, which has a great influence on the development of later tourism prose. In addition, he also wrote thirteen local chronicles and seven letters of appointment, but they have all been lost.
