Hebei North College (Hebei? North? University is located in Zhangjiakou, a famous city outside the Great Wall, and is known as the "North Gate" and "Back Garden" of Beijing. It is a comprehensive provincial-level undergraduate college with the right to grant master's degree in northwest Hebei Province. It was selected into the education and training plan of outstanding agricultural and forestry talents of the Ministry of Education and awarded the modern agricultural technology training base of the Ministry of Agriculture by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Approved by the Ministry of Education, the school was merged from Zhangjiakou Medical College, Zhangjiakou Normal College and Zhangjiakou Agricultural College in September 2003. The predecessor of Zhangjiakou Medical College was the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Bethune Health School, which was established in 1945. 1982 was upgraded to an undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education and named Zhangjiakou Medical College. Zhangjiakou Teachers College was founded in1956; Zhangjiakou Agricultural College was founded in 1923.
