Nanjing Forestry University, located at the foot of Zijin Mountain and near Xuanwu Lake, is a provincial-level key university jointly established by the central and local governments, a national "double-first-class" construction university, and a class A construction university of Jiangsu Province's high-level university construction peak plan. The school was formerly known as the Forestry Department of Central University (founded in 1902) and the Forestry Department of Jinling University (founded in 19 10).
Nanjing Forestry College was merged from 65438 to 0952, which was one of the only three forestry colleges in China at that time. 1955 Huazhong agricultural college (formed by the merger of Wuhan university, Nanchang university and Hubei agricultural college) was merged with the forestry department, and 1972 was renamed Nanjing forestry industry institute. 1983 restored the name of Nanjing Forestry College, and 1985 changed its name to Nanjing Forestry University.
The school adheres to the school spirit of "Honesty, Upholding the People" and carries forward the excellent school spirit of "Unity, simplicity, diligence and enterprising".
With the grand goal of "the Yellow River flows clear water and the bare land turns into green hills" and the fundamental task of cultivating socialist builders and successors with all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor, it has developed into a high-level university with distinctive characteristics, taking forestry as the advantage, taking the construction of national ecological civilization as the guide, and taking science, engineering, agriculture, literature, management, economics, law and art as the multidisciplinary development.
The school actively adapts to the needs of social and economic development and constantly optimizes and adjusts the discipline structure.
There are Forestry College, Materials Science and Engineering College, Chemical Engineering College, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering College, Civil Engineering College, school of economics and management College, Humanities and Social Sciences College, Information Science and Technology College, Landscape Architecture College, Science College, Foreign Languages College, Art and Design College, Home and Industrial Design College, Light Industry and Food College, Automobile and Traffic Engineering College, Ecology and Environment College, Graduate School and so on.
At present, there are more than 30,000 full-time students, including more than 8,500 doctoral and master students.
