At present, the college has three departments: Chemistry Department, Chemical Engineering and Technology Department and Polymer Science and Engineering Department, as well as research institutes (centers) such as Polymer Materials Institute, Fine Chemical Industry Institute, Rheology Institute, Chiral Chemistry and Technology Institute, Electrochemical Engineering and Technology Institute, Ye Ping Materials Innovation Institute and Power Battery Materials Institute, and Shanghai Jiaotong University-Hitachi Chemical R&D Center. It also has an analysis and testing center and a basic teaching experiment center. The State Key Laboratory of Metal Matrix Composites, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Electrical Insulation and Thermal Aging, Shanghai Electrochemical Energy Device Engineering Technology Research Center, Shanghai University Key Laboratory of Functional Materials Assembly, Shanghai University Electrochemical Energy System and Application Engineering Research Center have been established, and the State Key Laboratories of Polyolefin Catalytic Technology and High Performance Materials and Fluorine Functional Membrane Materials have been jointly established with enterprises. The college has a complete discipline layout, with a postdoctoral mobile station for the first-class discipline of chemistry, a doctoral program for the first-class discipline of chemistry and two doctoral programs for applied chemistry, two master programs for chemistry, chemical engineering and technology, a master program for engineering in the field of chemical engineering, and two undergraduate enrollment majors for chemistry and chemical engineering. Polymer chemistry and physics are key disciplines in Shanghai.
