Yantai University was founded in July 1984, and was specially approved by the former State Education Commission. Peking University and Tsinghua University * * * sent teaching, scientific research and management backbones to colleges and universities for direct aid construction, requiring the two universities to include support for Yantai University in their long-term work plans. 1990 the Tsinghua of Peking University was established to support the construction of Yantai University, with the vice governor in charge of education in Shandong Province as the director.
The "Aid Committee" meets every two years to study and guide the teaching, scientific research and reform and development of Yantai University, so that Yantai University can have a higher starting point and a higher level of development. Since its establishment more than 20 years ago, with the care of Party committees and governments at all levels and the support of people from all walks of life at home and abroad, Yantai University has developed into a local comprehensive university with complete disciplines, perfect teaching facilities, comparable scale and strength, distinctive features and great development potential. 1995, the school successfully passed the qualification evaluation of undergraduate teaching level of the former State Education Commission. 1998, granting master's unit rights. In 2004, it was rated as excellent in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level by the Ministry of Education. In 2007, our school was approved by the General Political Department of China People's Liberation Army as a supporting training unit for training military cadres in general higher education.
Yantai University (Laishan) covers an area of 2 100 mu, with a building area of 1.0 1.98 million square meters, and the total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 51.20 million yuan. Yantai University (Development Zone) Science and Education Park is located in the central innovation zone of Bajiaowan, Yantai, with a total area of 1 1,000 mu. The school has 22 colleges (departments) and 69 undergraduate majors; Master's degree authorizes 22 first-level disciplines, and master's degree authorizes 1 1; Full-time teachers 1726, full-time undergraduates, postgraduates, and overseas students, over 30,000.
