Fukuoka Prefecture is located at the northern end of Kyushu, bordering Zhoufangtan in the northeast, Tan Xuan in the northwest and Minghai in the southwest. It faces the Korean Peninsula and Chinese mainland across the sea, and is the place where the Japanese first came into contact with mainland culture. Since the establishment of Taizai Prefecture, the governor of Kyushu in the 7th century, Fukuoka Prefecture has gradually prospered as the center of Kyushu.

Fukuoka City is the capital of Fukuoka Prefecture, the largest city in Kyushu, and the political, economic, cultural center and transportation hub of this region. Located on the coast of Hakata Bay, Fukuoka Castle was built in the west of Nakokawa in 160 1. On the other side of the river is Hakata, which is famous for its merchant settlement, so Hakata is now another name for Fukuoka.
