Hachiko is the pet dog of Noyingsaburo, a professor of agriculture at the University of Tokyo. He waits for the professor to come home at the exit of Shibuya Station every day. One day, the professor died of a heart attack at school, but Hachi still traveled to Shibuya Station rain or shine, waiting for his master to return, just like one day every year.
Hachi was born in otaku, Akita Prefecture, Japan. He is a purebred white Akita dog. Two months after its birth, it was brought home by Yukio Ueno, a lonely agricultural professor at the University of Tokyo. The professor gets off work late every day. In the twilight, at the exit of Shibuya Station, he is bound to see his dog, and Hachi is there to meet his master every night.
