Tan Kah Kee College of Xiamen University (hereinafter referred to as Tan Kah Kee College) is an independent college with independent legal personality, independent campus and independent finance, which is approved by the Ministry of Education and jointly organized by Xiamen University and Xiamen Tan Kah Kee Education Development Co., Ltd., and operates according to the new school-running mechanism and mode. The purpose of setting up Tan Kah Kee College is to adapt to the internal needs of the structural transformation of higher education in China, explore new educational models, give full play to the gathering and radiating role of Xiamen University as the only national key university in Fujian Province, and accelerate the pace of cultivating all kinds of practical and compound talents urgently needed by the society. The establishment of the college has received cordial care and strong support from leaders at all levels. Chen Zhili, State Councilor, and Huang, Deputy Secretary of Fujian Provincial Committee, unveiled the Jiageng College on June 5+10/October 26, 2003, which greatly encouraged the teachers and students of the College. Tan Kah Kee College fully relies on the comprehensive advantages of Xiamen University to set up its majors according to market demand. The college began enrolling students in 2003. At present, * * * has more than 0/000 students/kloc, and plans to enroll more than 3,000 students in 2008. The college has four branches, namely, International Business School, School of Information Science and Technology, School of Law and School of Foreign Languages, and has opened other humanities, social sciences and science and engineering majors. In 2008, based on the original 35 enrollment majors, Tan Kah Kee College added microelectronics majors, with a total of 36 majors and nearly 70 professional directions.
