Huazhong University of Science and Technology, located in Wuhan, Hubei Province, is a comprehensive research-oriented national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). The school's predecessor was Huazhong Institute of Technology established in 1952, Shanghai Wende Medical College established in 1907 and Hubei Technical School established in 1898. After inheritance and development, Huazhong University of Science and Technology was merged from the former Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tongji Medical University and Wuhan Urban Construction College in 2000.
