Why is Guangxi Normal University very ordinary, but the publishing house has developed so well?
There is no necessary connection between publishing houses and universities.

First of all, university publishing houses are generally run by schools, but they are administratively under the jurisdiction of the General Administration of Publishing and financially owned by schools. In the past, the main function of university press was to print teaching materials and distribute papers. Make money, publish various papers to qualified teachers, and evaluate professional titles. Later, after the industrialization of education, there were not so many special funds wasted every year, forcing everyone to transform. Some publishing houses, such as Shaanxi Normal University, have stepped out of the trap and started to cooperate with foreign countries. Some publications are classified as technical or professional research fields, such as Peking University? Beijing Institute of Technology? Renmin University Press? University of Political Science and Law Press.

What about some university publishing houses that want authority but have no authority, policy advantages but no money? There are two roads in front of us. The first is bankruptcy, and the second is marketization. We can test which books sell well in the market, but the books that sell well are not necessarily suitable for everyone. So more than ten years ago, Guangxi Normal University set up Beibeite Publishing Company in Beijing. In fact, what I want to talk about here is the aesthetic influence of an editor-in-chief on a publishing house.

First of all, they are really willing to spend money, three or four million royalties, and more than 10 million printing expenses. Secondly, they are very accurate in positioning their products, so they should follow the niche crowd, either style or reading breadth expansion. In short, they sell books silently under the literary road. They are not booksellers or concept dealers, which is sometimes difficult for publishers who are unwilling to be lonely. Any line is the same. Everyone likes to plant vegetables and harvest in one year, and few people are willing to plant trees and pick fruits in three to five years. Of course, many times it depends on the strategy of the editor-in-chief and the general manager. Having taste and money, it is doomed that they are different from other university associations, and they stand out with a sense of marketization and quality.
