On August 23rd, 2002, with the approval of Hubei Provincial Department of Education, Provincial Planning Commission and Provincial Department of Finance (E&T Letter [2002] No.44), Foreign Trade School was merged into Wuhan Institute of Technology. Hubei Foreign Trade School, founded in 1958, is a provincial-level key secondary school and a national-level key secondary school directly under Hubei Foreign Trade Department, which has trained a large number of junior and intermediate foreign trade talents and made positive contributions to the development of foreign trade in Hubei Province. However, with the development of China's education and the changes in the demand structure of the talent market, secondary vocational education has fallen into an unprecedented trough since the 1990s, with a serious shortage of students and difficulties in development. School leaders and teaching staff began to think and seek the survival and development of the school.
On May 26th, 2000, when Governor Jiang Zhuping and Vice Governor Zhang Hongxiang of Hubei Province inspected Hubei Foreign Trade School, they fully affirmed the idea of seeking development for Hubei Foreign Trade School. From 200 1 to 10, Vice Governor Han Zhongxue led relevant leaders and functional department leaders of the Provincial Department of Education, the Provincial Planning Commission, the Provincial Department of Finance and the Provincial Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation to Hubei Foreign Trade School to conduct field work on the issue of cultivating foreign trade senior talents, and held a discussion on the issue of improving the school-running specifications of Hubei Foreign Trade School. At the same time, Wuhan Institute of Science and Technology urgently needs to find a suitable place outside the school to build a private independent secondary college. With the care and support of relevant leaders of Hubei provincial government and the matchmaking of Hubei Provincial Department of Education, Wuhan Institute of Science and Technology organized a special class to inspect Hubei Foreign Trade School on 2001+0/. After many consultations between the two schools, the intention of Hubei Foreign Trade School to merge into Wuhan Institute of Science and Technology was initially reached.
