BEIJING, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) The sixth edition of UCLA Slang Dictionary will be released this month, in which "Obama" has become a popular adjective, meaning "cool".
According to Reuters, this dictionary is written by Pamela Munro, a professor of linguistics at UCLA, together with students, and a new edition is published every four years. His students collect slang from their friends and then analyze them to ensure accurate pronunciation and meaning.
This 160-page dictionary includes slang and its definitions, phonetic fragments, example sentences, etymological notes, slang sources and so on.
For example, a word "presh" means lovely and precious. "fomo" means afraid of missing out, "schwa" means sighing, similar to "wow", while "obama" means "cool", such as "You so obama" and "You really are Obama".
