Xi University of Architecture and Technology is located in the famous historical and cultural city Xi. It has two campuses, Yanta and Caotang, and a science and education industrial park. Yanta Campus overlooks the famous Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Tang Dynasty in the south and the world-famous ancient city wall in Ming Dynasty in the north. Caotang Campus is located in Caosi East Road, High-tech Zone; Huaqing Science and Education Industrial Park is located in the south section of Happiness Forest Belt in Gaoxindong Development Zone, Xi, adjacent to Chanba Ecological Park with pleasant scenery in the east. The two campuses and industrial parks cover a total area of more than 3,700 mu.
The school has a long history and profound connotation, which can be traced back to Tianjin Beiyang Western School, founded in 1895. 1956 During the adjustment of national colleges and universities, the departments (branches) of civil engineering, architecture and municipal administration of Northeast Institute of Technology, Northwest Institute of Technology, Qingdao Institute of Technology and Sunan Institute of Technology were merged.
It has accumulated the earliest departments (disciplines) of civil engineering, architecture and environment in the history of modern higher education in China. At that time, it was named Xi Institute of Architecture and Engineering. It is the first architectural institution of higher learning in the northwest of New China, one of the famous "Old Eight Schools" of civil architecture in China, and a key university directly under the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry.
1959 and 1963, the school was renamed as Xi 'an Metallurgical Institute and Xi 'an Metallurgical Architecture Institute. On March 8th, 1994 was renamed "Xi University of Architecture and Technology" with the approval of the former State Education Commission. From 65438 to 0998, the school was handed over to the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government for management. At present, it is an institution that implements the "National Project of Building a High-level University" and the "Basic Capacity Building Project of Universities in the Midwest", and it is a university jointly established by Shaanxi Province, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
After more than 60 years of construction and development, the strength of the school has been continuously enhanced, and it has become a multidisciplinary university with the characteristics of civil architecture, environmental municipal administration, material metallurgy and related disciplines, with engineering technology as the main body and the coordinated development of engineering, management, art, science, literature, law, philosophy, economics and teaching. The school was awarded "Special Contribution Award for Architectural Education" by UIA and "National Advanced Employment Unit" by the State Council.
The school is one of the first units in the State Council to grant doctoral, master and bachelor degrees. The school has three original national key disciplines (structural engineering, environmental engineering, architectural design and its theory). At present, the school has 9 doctoral degree authorization points and postdoctoral mobile stations, 1 doctoral degree authorization points, 27 master degree authorization points and 18 master degree authorization points.
