Harbin Engineering University is located in the beautiful Songhua River-the northern ice city Harbin. This school is one of the first 27 institutions that passed the project approval (non-pre-examination) of 1996. It is a national key university with a graduate school and a national university science park. It is also an important talent training and scientific research base in the fields of "three seas and one nuclear" (shipbuilding industry, naval equipment, marine development and nuclear energy application) in China. Harbin Engineering University has a glorious historical tradition. The school's predecessor was China People's Liberation Army Military Engineering College (hereinafter referred to as "Harbin Institute of Technology") founded by 1953, with General Chen Geng as the first president.
