Brief introduction of Li.
Li has a deep affection for the countryside since he was a child. He once wrote in the preface of his monograph: "China was founded by agriculture for five thousand years, and people's daily needs depend on agriculture ... However, the hard work of calluses is often wasted because of the destruction of thieves. For example, in history, migratory locusts covered up crops, and there was nothing in the world. Is it an irresistible natural disaster? ! "He took the word" ploughing "and set his ambition to devote himself to agricultural science.

During my college years, I still relied on work-study programs and scholarships provided by the school to maintain my studies. He is ambitious and original, goes his own way and studies hard. On holidays, students go for a spring outing or climb mountains in autumn. He always sits alone in the reading room to read widely and collect all kinds of insect information. Every summer vacation, he carries simple luggage and goes to the grain and cotton producing areas in northern Jiangsu to investigate pests, collect specimens and participate in pest control. During his four years in college, he traveled to more than 40 counties in Jiangsu Province and accumulated rich materials. He published two academic papers, The Distribution of Locusts in Jiangsu Province and The Ancient Methods of Catching Locusts. These articles were appreciated by Zhang Jubo, director of Jiangsu Insect Bureau, and Wu Fuzhen, director of Central Agricultural Laboratory. 1930 to 1 After graduation, recommended by two people, I worked as a technician and director in Jiangsu Insect Bureau and Zhejiang Insect Bureau, engaged in the research of cotton pests and mosquitoes and flies control. At work, he deeply felt that domestic science and technology were backward, equipment and materials were poor, and many problems were difficult to solve, so he had the idea of studying abroad. 1in August, 935, with the support of relatives and friends, he set off for the entomology department of the University of Minnesota. While studying, he undertook the work of making mosquito genital specimens in the laboratory, and was entrusted by Nanjing Central Cotton Production Improvement Institute to inspect cotton pests and their control in American cotton producing areas in order to earn money for returning home. 1936 graduated with a master's degree and was elected as a member of SIG-MA-XI honorary society.

1936 After returning to China, he served as the technical director of Cotton Insect Unit of Nanjing Central Cotton Production and Improvement Institute. He returned to Hunan from March/KLOC-0 to March, 938, kept indoors, collected and sorted out his own research data over the years, and wrote a book of Economic Entomology in China with 500,000 words, which had a great influence after publication.

After 1938, Li worked in Hunan Institute of Agriculture and Forestry Improvement, Hunan Agricultural College, Zhejiang University Agricultural College, Fujian Agricultural College, Hubei Agricultural College, Hubei Medical College and Wuhan University Agricultural College. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), Xiao, Dean of the School of Social Sciences of Hunan University, recommended him to return to Hunan as the Dean of the Agricultural College of Hunan University. 195 1 year, he became a professor of entomology and head of plant protection department of Hunan Agricultural College. Hunan Forestry College was established 1959, and was transferred to the position of Director of Forest Protection Teaching and Research Section. From 1964 to Central South Forestry College until his death in August 1966.

Li used to be a member of the Insect Terminology Review Committee of the Ministry of Education of the National Government, a director of the Chinese Insect Society, a vice chairman of the Hunan Provincial Science Federation and the Popular Science Association, an academic member of the China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and an editorial board member of the Journal of Insects.
