The main research directions of the college are wide band gap semiconductor (GaN, SiC) materials and devices, VLSI/SOC design technology, reliability and manufacturability of ultra-deep submicron devices, new semiconductor technology and new structure devices. According to different teachers, there are generally five main research groups: Teaching and Research Section 702, headed by Professor Zhang Yimen, whose main research direction is devices and technology, and Vice President Professor Zhang Yuming is also in this group, starting from 20 13, and there are many young teachers in this group; The research team led by Mr. Zhang mainly studies strained silicon and high-speed devices. The research team led by Dean Zhuang Yiqi is mainly engaged in circuit and system-level research, such as embedded circuits, IP cores and Bluetooth circuits. And some research such as operating system and decoding seems to have been linked with computer communication. Yang Yintang, the current director of the Development Planning Department, is in charge of this team, which involves many projects from devices, processes and systems. Moreover, due to Yang's activity ability advantage, it is easy to receive various projects. There is also a larger group led by Mr. Hao Yue. Mr. Hao is an assistant to the principal, and his research group mainly studies GaAs devices. Of course, there are other small groups. Teachers lead some students to do research alone, such as ASIC, FPGA, reliability and so on. Although the group is small in scale, it also has its own characteristics and advantages. For example, the employment situation of ASIC group led by teacher Wu Yuguang is very good every year, so many students are willing to go.
