This major trains high-level professionals who have a certain basic theoretical accomplishment of Marxism, have the teaching and research ability of painting art creation, and can engage in teaching, creation, research, publishing and management in cultural education, art field, design, research, publishing and management units.

Professional content: learn aesthetic theory knowledge and master painting modeling ability and skills; Study the characteristics and creative methods of artistic works to improve students' aesthetic ability and appreciation level; Cultivate students to have a certain theoretical level and strong artistic creation ability of painting. Admission principle of fine arts major: combination of arts and sciences, unified queuing. Candidates who have passed the professional examination and are the first choice to be admitted to our school, the college entrance examination scores reach 60% of the first control score line of the undergraduate course in the province where the candidates are located (rounded to the decimal point without retaining one), and are not lower than the minimum control score line of the undergraduate course in the province where the candidates are located. According to the principle of giving priority to the professional achievements in the school examination, the students are selected according to the voluntary order of the college entrance examination.

When the professional scores in the college entrance examination are the same, they will be selected from high to low according to the results of the college entrance examination. The top three candidates with more than 500 applicants, whose college entrance examination scores have reached the minimum control score of art undergraduate courses in their province, give priority to the art enrollment specialty, plan, educational system and level of Jilin University: 80 students majoring in art design and 40 students majoring in painting.
