School of Automation, Huazhong University of Science and Technology was established in 1973. 20 13 is a new automation institute formed by the merger of the former Department of Control Science and Engineering and the former Institute of Image Recognition and Artificial Intelligence. The Department of Control Science and Engineering was formerly the Department of Automatic Control of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, which was founded in 1973 and renamed as the Department of Control Science and Engineering of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1998. The former Institute of Image Recognition and Artificial Intelligence 1978 was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Space, and engaged in the research of image recognition and artificial intelligence.
