Shanxi University of Finance and Economics is a provincial local institution of higher learning with a long history and distinctive features. It is one of the earliest financial and economic universities established after the founding of New China. It is located in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province, a national historical and cultural city known as "Dragon City".

* * * The school has two campuses, Yingze Campus (North Campus) and Wucheng Campus (South Campus). Freshmen are in the north campus except for sports, economics, new arts and Sino-German College. There are two canteens in the North School and five in the South School.

The school is characterized by economy, management, statistics and law, and promotes the coordinated development of economy, management, law, science, industry and literature. At present, there are 2 1 teaching units, 9 university-level scientific research institutions and 34 college-level scientific research institutions, including 4 provincial key disciplines, 5 provincial key construction disciplines, 5 provincial key research bases of humanities and social sciences, and 5 provincial collaborative innovation centers 1 project in Shanxi Province.

Adhering to the road of opening up, the school has deepened its cooperation with 25 local governments and industrial enterprises in the province, built "twelve bases", signed comprehensive strategic cooperation agreements with 7 domestic "double-first-class" universities, and established exchanges and cooperation relations with more than 30 well-known foreign universities and institutions. The two majors of Sino-foreign cooperative education institution "Sino-German College of Shanxi University of Finance and Economics" have reached the European FIBAA international certification standard. The school has become the fifth university of finance and economics in China and a university in Shanxi Province.
