Historical evolution:
In the middle of Neolithic Age, it started from Xiaohuangshan site, about 9000 years ago. The ancient capital of Yue State was built in 490 BC, with a history of nearly 2,500 years.
According to historical records, Dayu succeeded in controlling water, and assembled princes in Maoshan, Shaoxing, and rewarded him with meritorious deeds. He was buried on this mountain after his death. Because he changed his name to Maoshan, this is the origin of Huiji's name. During the Spring and Autumn Period, the Yue State, which was established by the Yue people around Shaoxing today, became one of the countries in the Spring and Autumn Period.
During the Warring States period, Gou Jian, the king of Yue, defeated Wu, and the territory of Yue extended to Jianghuai area. In the thirty-sixth year (the first 333 years), King Xian of Zhou defeated Yue, taking Wu as an example, and entered Zhejiang. The State of Yue began to "serve the DPRK in Chu", but the State of Yue remained the same.
In the twenty-fifth year of the King of Qin (the first 222 years), he decided to set the south of the Yangtze River, surrender the Vietnamese army, and set up Huiji County in the land to govern Wu County (now Suzhou). In twenty-six years, China was unified and the county system was implemented. Huiji County has successively governed more than 20 counties such as Yin Shan, including Yin Shan, Zhuji, Shangyu, Yuyao, Zhang Ju, Yinshang, Wu Shang, Taimu, Qiantang, Yuhang, Youquan, Wucheng and Haiyan in Zhejiang today.
In the fifth year of the Western Han Dynasty (106), thirteen prefectural governors were set up, and Huiji county was under the governor of Yangzhou prefectural governors, plus Shan county and Yuji county. At that time, Huiji County governed 26 counties, and now there are 18 counties in Zhejiang.
In the fourth year of Yongjian in the Eastern Han Dynasty (129), Huiji County was transferred to Wu County. Today, Huiji County is still in the south of Qiantang River, covering Zhuji, Shangyu, Shining, Shu, Yuyao, Da, Yin, Zhang 'an, Yongning, Taimu and Dongye.
During the Three Kingdoms period, Huiji County was under the jurisdiction of Wu. In the second year of Wei Huang (22 1), the number of Huiji counties increased to 31 counties, including ten counties of Ning Wu, Feng 'an, Changshan, Suichang, Xin 'an, Ding Yang, Linhai, Nanshiping, Luo Yang and Songyang, and six counties of Fujian.
In the second year of Wutaiyuan (252), Yongkang, Wuyi and Jianping counties were added, and Shangyu county was changed to Houguo. In the second year of Wu Taiping (257), the third year of Yong 'an (260) and the first year of Baoding (266), Huiji County was divided into three counties: Linhai, Jian 'an and Dongyang. Huiji County governs, Shangyu Houguo and Zhuji, Yuyao, Yongxing, Shining, An Shu, Yin,.
