The School of Geological Exploration Engineering of Xinjiang University, formerly known as the Teaching and Research Group of Metal Department of Sino-Soviet Mining Technical School, was established in 1953. 1955 When Urumqi Mining School was established, the teaching and research group was changed to geology. 1958 When Xinjiang Institute of Mining and Metallurgy was established, it was renamed as Mining Department. Today, the College of Geological Exploration Engineering has experienced three stages of development and three generations of efforts, namely, the Geology Department of Xinjiang Institute of Technology (1953 ~ 2000), the College of Resources and Environmental Sciences of Xinjiang University (2000 ~ 2008) and the College of Geological Exploration Engineering of Xinjiang University (2008-present). Section II Overview of the College The College of Geological Exploration and Engineering of Xinjiang University is the earliest teaching and scientific research academic institution focusing on mineral exploration in colleges and universities in China. At present, the teaching majors of the college include three undergraduate majors: resource exploration engineering, exploration technology and engineering and mining engineering. Three master's degree awarding points: mineral survey and exploration, earth exploration and information technology, mineralogy, petrology and mineral deposit science. It has a relatively complete undergraduate and postgraduate training system from undergraduate to master. There are 33 staff in the hospital, including 5 professors, 4 associate professors/kloc-0, 9 lecturers, 9 teachers with doctoral degrees (4 others are studying) and 7 teachers with master's degrees. The College of Geological Exploration and Engineering has formed a new teaching and scientific research system. Existing basic geology teaching and research section, resource exploration teaching and research section, exploration technology and engineering teaching and research section and mining engineering teaching and research section.
