Lausanne University is a research university in French-speaking Switzerland with a history of more than 480 years. It is a member of World University Union, European University Association (EUA) and European Capital University Union (UNICA). Its main campus is located on Lake Geneva in Lausanne, Switzerland. The school has exchanges and cooperation with 550 world-renowned universities such as Cambridge University, Peking University, Chinese University of Hong Kong and University of Pennsylvania.

Lausanne is located in the southwest of Switzerland, on the north shore of Geneva, connecting Geneva and Bern, and connecting with Paris, France through TGV. It was once a military port of the Roman Empire, the capital of Lake Geneva, and the cultural center of French-speaking Switzerland, and once flourished.

In the fall semester of 2012/kloc-0, there were more than 865,438 undergraduates, 6,465 master students and doctoral students, and the proportion of international faculty and students in the school reached over 30% and 20% respectively.
