Hunan University in China, Central South University and Flinders University in Australia invested nearly 4 million yuan to set up a "seed fund" for cooperative research. The unveiling ceremony of "Joint Research and Education Center" and the launching ceremony of "Seed Fund" of the three universities were held in Changsha. Ms. Jen Tyrell, Education Counselor of the Australian Embassy in China, and Ms. Fu Huaxing, Deputy Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Hunan Province jointly unveiled the seed fund.

Jen Tyrell said that the establishment of the center is a model of China-Australia educational cooperation, and he hoped that this cooperation would bring new vitality and inspiration to each other, produce excellent cooperation results, and benefit the two peoples and the people of the world.

Huang Yao, director of the International Cooperation Department of the Hunan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, expressed his belief that the unveiling of the Joint Research and Education Center and the launch of the seed fund will definitely bring excellent results to the industries, schools and scientific research fields of the two countries.
