The upgrading of Huaxia University will make it the first private university at undergraduate level in Xiamen. The Guangdong Provincial Department of Education agreed that three private higher vocational colleges should be upgraded to ordinary undergraduate colleges: Guangdong Institute of Technology based on Zhaoqing Vocational College of Science and Technology, Guangzhou Industrial and Commercial College based on Guangzhou Industrial and Commercial College, and Guangdong Neusoft College based on Nanhai Neusoft Information Vocational and Technical College.
