Tongji University Jiading Campus is located in Jiading District of Shanghai International Automobile City, which is an important part of Shanghai International Automobile City and a key project of the city.

The campus covers a total area of 167 hectares, with a construction area of about 400,000 square meters after completion. It is divided into nine functional areas: administrative service training area (preschool area), public teaching area, secondary college area, R&D training area, sports area, living and leisure area, public green area, rail transit test area and Shanghai ground vehicle wind tunnel test area. The total investment is about 2 billion, the greening rate is 60%, and the number of design students is 15000.

At present, the Jiading Campus of Tongji University has been fully put into use. Five colleges of automobile, software, traffic engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics and information engineering entered the campus in 2004 and 2005 respectively. In August 2006, four colleges, including Economics and Management, Materials Science and Engineering, Communication and Art, Sino-German Engineering College and Railway and Urban Rail Transit Research Institute, have also moved.

Comprehensive teaching building, teaching and research building, automobile clean energy engineering center building, training center building, administrative office building, automobile exhibition center building, international conference center building, canteen, student apartment building, etc. have been built. 14 floor library building has been completed and opened, telecommunication college building, mechanical college building, traffic engineering college building and material college building have been completed and put into use, and teachers' apartments have also started construction.
