In the QS World University Ranking in 2022, Leeds University ranked 92nd in the world and16th in Britain.

As one of the top 100 universities in the world, Leeds University has many famous titles: the founding member of Russell University Group, the Ivy League in Britain, one of the "red brick universities" in Britain, the member of World University Alliance, the member of N8 University Alliance, and one of the 12 elite universities in Britain.

Compared with other famous British universities, the world ranking of Leeds University is not very high, but it has been hovering around 90. Leeds University has a long history as a university founded in 183 1. Formerly known as Yorkshire Academy of Sciences, it merged with Leeds Medical College in 1884, and developed continuously in the following decades. Finally, it formed the Federal Victoria University with Owens College and University College of Liverpool, and officially changed its name to Leeds University in 1904.
