It depends on which major you are applying for. If it is a merchant marine college, there will be a uniform school uniform, which will be worn every day. Land majors learn to issue a school uniform, but they don't have to wear it at other times except military training. I'm a land major and I never have to wear a school uniform. I saw them wear them most of the time at the Merchant Marine Academy, but they are quite handsome!
