Jilin Agricultural University, located in Changchun City, Jilin Province, is a provincial-level key university in Jilin Province. It is jointly built by the Jilin Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and has been selected as one of the national "Basic Capacity Building Projects for Universities in the Midwest", the A-class Construction Project for High-level Applied Research Universities with Jilin Province's characteristics, and the "Academic Innovation and Intelligence Introduction Plan".

The school was formerly an agricultural cadre school founded by 1948 Central Northeast Bureau in Heilongjiang Province. 1950 was upgraded to Heilongjiang Agricultural College, and 1956 was upgraded to Bei 'an Agricultural College, starting a four-year undergraduate education.

From 65438 to 0958, Bei 'an Agricultural College, Changchun Animal Husbandry and Veterinary College and the preparatory office of Changchun Agricultural College merged to form Changchun Agricultural College, and Premier Zhou Enlai personally wrote the name of the school. 1959, the school was renamed Jilin Agricultural University.

As of March, 2023, the school covers an area of 1338 hectares, the campus area is 3 12.66 hectares, the campus building area is 472,200 square meters, the total fixed assets are 3.2 billion yuan, the library has1808,200 copies of paper books and 1362 kinds of electronic books. There are 22 colleges, 1 directly affiliated teaching department and 1 graduate school, offering 73 undergraduate majors.

There are 9 postdoctoral research stations, 10 first-level disciplines authorized by doctoral degree, 2/kloc-0 first-level disciplines authorized by master degree, 12 categories authorized by master degree, and 18 fields authorized by master degree.
