Guangxi University is located in Nanning, the picturesque capital of Guangxi, south of Bagui, at the junction of the border and the sea, and in the middle of Greentown. It is the oldest and largest comprehensive university in Guangxi and the only national "2 1 1 project" construction school in Guangxi. Colleges and universities in the central and western regions plan to build universities, world-class discipline construction universities and "joint construction of departments and regions" to enhance their comprehensive strength. The school was founded in 1928 and became the national Guangxi University in 1939.

Guangxi University pioneered higher education in Guangxi. Its first president was a "great master" who was known as "Northern Cai and Southern Ma" in education, and Dr. Ma Wu Jun, a famous educator, scientist and democratic revolutionary in China. During the period of National Guangxi University, Zhu Kezhen, Li Siguang, Chen Wangdao, Chen Yinque, Wang Li and other famous teachers once taught here, which was one of the most influential comprehensive universities in China at that time.
