Professor Sun Shigang is an academician of China Academy of Sciences, a physical chemist, an electrochemical expert, a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Xiamen University, and the director of the Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces. The main research directions are electrocatalysis, spectroelectrochemistry, energy electrochemistry and nano-material electrochemistry.

Learning experience:

Professor Sun Shigang is the first student admitted to Xiamen University after 1977 resumed college entrance examination. He knew nothing about his major when he entered school, and became the first batch of students in China to study for a doctorate in France after the reform and opening up. He used his hard-working life experience to prove that knowledge changed his destiny. 65438-0987 returned to China and worked in Xiamen University. 1, the concept and preparation method of high surface energy nano-materials

Professor Sun Shigang put forward the concept and preparation method of high surface energy nano-materials for the first time in the world, and prepared new nano-materials with high catalytic activity, such as platinum icosahedral nanocrystals. Professor Sun Shigang realized the controllable synthesis of high surface energy nanomaterials by controlling the morphology, size and crystal phase of nanocrystals, which provided new ideas and methods for the design and optimization of nanomaterials.

2. Electrochemical in situ/working condition spectral analysis and imaging technology

Professor Sun Shigang established and developed a series of electrochemical in-situ/working-condition spectral analysis and imaging techniques, and expounded the dynamic process and reaction mechanism of electrochemical reaction from the molecular level and microstructure level. Professor Sun Shigang used relevant technologies to study the key issues in energy electrochemical systems such as fuel cells, metal-air batteries and lithium-ion batteries, which provided an important basis for improving electrochemical performance and understanding the nature of the reaction.

3. Structure-property structure-activity relationship of electrochemical energy materials.

Professor Sun Shigang deeply studied the structure-performance-structure-activity relationship between fuel cell catalyst and electrode material of secondary battery, and designed electrochemical energy materials from atomic arrangement structure, chemical structure and nanostructure. By adjusting the structural parameters of materials, Professor Sun Shigang realized the optimization and adjustment of material properties, which provided a new way and strategy for developing efficient, stable and cheap electrochemical energy materials.
