Provide qualified experimental animals and part of feed supply for teaching and scientific research in our school; Provide undergraduate and graduate students with courses and skills training in experimental animals and experiments; It is an important platform for animal experiment teaching and scientific research for teachers and students in our school. Provide necessary technical support and services for the teaching and scientific research of teachers and students in the school.

The center was established in the 1950s to provide experimental animals for teaching and scientific research. 1984, with the approval of the Ministry of Health, a standardized laboratory animal building of 2,600 square meters was planned and built, which was officially put into use in 1986, and the teaching and scientific research of experimental animal science began.

1998 5438+00 In June, the Center undertook the project funded by Shandong Science and Technology Commission, and built the first national standard SPF barrier facility in Shandong Province, which was officially put into use on June 5438+00, 2000, providing standardized experimental animals and animal experiment services for the teaching and scientific research of life disciplines in schools.

In April, 2003, led by the Science and Technology Department of Shandong University, focusing on the advantages of experimental animals, drug metabolism, pharmacology and toxicology, a preclinical drug safety evaluation laboratory was established with an investment of 3 million yuan.

In February, 2005, it officially passed the GLP certification of the US Food and Drug Administration, and became the 14 institution in China, the first institution for drug safety evaluation in Shandong Province.

Now the center covers an area of 7,000 square meters, with a building area of more than 4,000 square meters. After re-planning and reconstruction, the barrier-free facilities reached 1790 square meters.
