West Lake University, located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, is a new institution of higher learning sponsored by social forces and supported by the state. Formerly known as Zhejiang West Lake Institute of Advanced Studies, it was officially approved by the Ministry of Education on February 18, 2008.
