Harbin Sport University, referred to as "Harbin Institute of Physical Education", is located in nangang district, Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. The school is affiliated to the Education Department of Heilongjiang Province, and it is the main base for training talents in ice and snow sports in China.

It is the only general physical education institute in Heilongjiang Province with the evaluation of excellent undergraduate teaching level by the Ministry of Education, and has the Education Development Center of the International Ice Hockey Federation (Harbin).

The school's predecessor was Harbin Sports School, 1956 was established with the approval of the former State Sports Commission in March.
