Qingdao University of Technology, located in Qingdao, Shandong Province, is a key university in Shandong Province, a high-level university with "strong characteristics" in Shandong Province, and a well-known school for training applied basic talents in Shandong Province.
It has the qualification of exemption for postgraduate students, and has been selected into the national "11plan", the excellent engineer education and training plan, the national "three-round education" comprehensive reform pilot unit, and "the first batch of demonstration universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education". CDIO is one of the first universities in Shandong Province to build "peak disciplines", "dominant disciplines" and "provincial-level disciplines".
The school was founded in 1952, and successively belonged to the former Ministry of Heavy Industry and the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. From 1998 to the leadership of Shandong province, the management system of "the establishment of central and local governments, with local management as the mainstay" was implemented. Shandong Institute of Metallurgy and Qingdao Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture were renamed Qingdao University of Technology in 2004.
