The School of Materials Science and Engineering of Huazhong University of Science and Technology has two undergraduate majors, namely, material forming and control engineering and material science and engineering, both of which are national first-class undergraduate majors. The School of Materials Science and Engineering of Huazhong University of Science and Technology was established in 1953. After several generations of unremitting efforts, it has become one of the larger and stronger colleges of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, with unique academic advantages, good software and hardware environment and rich academic atmosphere.
1998, materials science and engineering was awarded the first-class doctorate, and was awarded the national first-class key discipline in 2007, including three two disciplines, namely, materials physics and chemistry, materials science and materials processing engineering, among which materials science and materials processing engineering are the national key disciplines. The first-level discipline is the national key construction discipline of "2 1 1 engineering" and "985 project", and it is a national "double-class" construction discipline with postdoctoral mobile stations. At present, the "database of basic scientific indicators" ranks first in the world 1‰.
