The college consists of seven departments: epidemiology, biostatistics, health toxicology and nutrition, occupational and environmental health, social medicine and maternal and child health care, physical and chemical laboratory, and health microbiology laboratory. There is a public health and preventive medicine experimental center, which consists of five laboratories: undergraduate teaching and undergraduate laboratory, physical and chemical inspection and biological effect laboratory, medical information data processing laboratory, epidemiological and microbial inspection laboratory and SPF animal laboratory. There are five research centers, namely, STDs/AIDS Prevention Research Center of Shandong University, Tuberculosis Control Research Center of Shandong University, Climate Change and Health Research Center of Shandong University, Suicide Prevention Research Center of Shandong University and Healthy Aging and Longevity Research Center of Shandong University.

The five-year program of preventive medicine, including preventive medicine, health examination and health management, is open to the whole country.
