Department level. University presidents in China correspond to three levels of civil servants: deputy ministerial level, main departmental level and deputy departmental level, while the presidents of private universities have no levels. Among them, 985 university presidents are deputy ministerial level, which is equivalent to the governor level. The president of an ordinary undergraduate university is the director level, which is equivalent to the secretary and mayor of a prefecture-level city. The dean of the college is the deputy department level, and the dean of the higher vocational college is the deputy department level.
