The Frontier Politics Department of the College of Liberal Arts was merged into the Oriental Language and Literature Department of Peking University, the Philosophy Department of the College of Liberal Arts was merged into the Philosophy Department of Peking University, the Economics Department of the College of Liberal Arts was merged into the Economics Department of Fudan University, and the Law School and Politics Department of the College of Liberal Arts moved to Shanghai and merged with the law departments of eight other departments to form East China University of Political Science and Law (now East China University of Political Science and Law).

The Water Conservancy Department of Institute of Technology merged with the Water Conservancy Department of Jiaotong University to form Hohai University, and the Aviation Department of Institute of Technology and the Aviation Engineering Department of Jiaotong University and Zhejiang University formed East China Aviation Institute (later moved to Xi 'an, now Northwestern Polytechnical University).
