Transparent drawing
Transparent painting is basically the basic technique of European oil painting before19th century. This technology has many steps. First of all, you should make a sketch relationship or texture effect that conforms to your ideal with the bottom material on the substrates of various colors, then cover it with transparent pigment, and finally finish it.
It is simple to understand, that is, one layer of color is covered on another layer of color alone, and the color below is like a piece of colored glass; Instead of mixing two colors to directly produce a third color, the third color is the result of visual harmony, not direct physical harmony.
This painting protection method is troublesome to draw and takes a long time to make. It takes a month or more to wait for the molding. After it is completely dried, coat it with transparent color layer by layer, and wipe it with cotton, cloth or fingers dipped in transparent color to cover the color (hue) range with transparent color layer by layer. On the basis of solving and preserving the shape, solve the color problem bit by bit. Therefore, few modern painters completely adopt this multi-level transparent painting method.
It is mainly divided into two forms:
First, transparent color reproduction, that is, multi-level description with diluted pigments, the color of the lower layer can be faintly displayed through the upper layer, forming a subtle tone with the upper layer. Although it has the same hue as the third color derived from physical harmony, the visual effect is different. The former is deeper and has a jewel-like luster.
The second is transparent cover color and thin bottom. This painting method refers to drawing a rigorous plain oil painting with dark brown or silver gray in the painting process, and covering it with transparent color after the picture is dried to improve the transparency of the whole picture.
Use two pictures to illustrate the mystery. Let's compare the changes in this work and you will see the difference. )
Thick painting
This painting method also has a name called "local painting method". Thick paint is spread layer by layer, all of which are piled up by money!
Thick painting is more willful than transparent painting (after all, it is partial painting), and thicker colors can be superimposed on the wet or painted pigments. The purpose of thick coating is to highlight the key points and shape the texture. The stacked three-dimensional entities bring a heavy appearance to the oil painting.
This technique is a bit rough. It is more suitable for rough and solid sketchpad, because it is too thin or too weak to support its thick layers of paint. Also, when painting, most of them use paint brushes or scrapers, such as thin small brushes, which can't be held at all.
Rembrandt was the first artist to use "thick painting". In his works, the bright part of his face is thick, so some people in Amsterdam satirize his portrait and hang it up with his nose.
Direct drawing
Direct painting is the most commonly used technique in oil painting. Also known as direct coloring, it refers to making a rough outline of an object on the canvas, and laying down the color at a time by virtue of the color feeling of the object or the idea of the color of the picture. If there are inaccuracies or defects after painting, you can scrape them off with a painting knife to continue color mixing. It is similar to the thick painting method, that is, the pigments used in the painting process are relatively thick, the color saturation is also high, and the brush strokes are clear, which makes people easy to relate to the picture content.
This painting method generally does not consider the color produced by color overlap, and does not intend to use the background color. Sometimes, painting can be continued after drying. Beginners often use this painting method to paint, or use it for sketching in creative and life scenes, collecting characters or environmental materials for sketching, and depicting characters one by one in oil painting creation.
Its advantages are strong feeling, bright colors, vivid pen, good connectivity, no oil absorption, warm expression and rich feelings. For example, most of Lie Bin's paintings are finished at one time, and they are painted quickly.
Direct painting generally requires confidence, because each stroke will affect the final picture. Although it can be modified, it must be as few as possible, so as not to destroy the fresh effect of the picture.
