Changshu Institute of Technology merged with Suda University and became a branch of Suzhou University, so Changshu issued a diploma from Suda University. But since 2008, this situation has disappeared.

Changshu Institute of Technology is a provincial full-time undergraduate college in Jiangsu Province. It is the first batch of pilot universities in the new round of undergraduate teaching qualification assessment organized by the Ministry of Education, the pilot universities in the "National Education System Reform", the pilot universities in the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education, the pilot universities in the informationization construction of the Ministry of Education, and the first batch of pilot universities in Jiangsu Province. Up to now, more than 654.38 million talents have been trained for the country and society. The school is located in Changshu, Suzhou, a national historical and cultural city and an international garden city, with profound cultural heritage and beautiful mountains and rivers. The school now has East Lake and Southeast Campus.

The school's predecessor was Suzhou Normal University, founded in 1958 and Changshu Vocational College in 1984. The two universities merged into Changshu College on 1989. 200 1 Jiangsu population school was merged. On May 2, 2004, approved by People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Ministry of Education, Changshu Institute of Technology was established on the basis of Changshu College.
