This major includes at least three parts: mechanical design, mechanical manufacturing and mechanical automation, which are called mechanical design, machinery and electromechanical respectively in the industry. In the undergraduate stage, it is generally subdivided here. According to the inheritance of different schools, there may be subdivisions such as mining machinery and construction machinery.

The goal is to cultivate senior engineering and technical personnel with basic knowledge and application ability of mechanical design and manufacturing, who can engage in design and manufacturing, scientific and technological development, applied research, operation management and sales in the field of mechanical manufacturing in the first line of industrial production.
