According to the new college entrance examination network, Zhengzhou University, referred to as "Zheng Da", is located in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. It is a university jointly established by the people of China, the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Henan Province. It is a national "double-class" university and a "2 1 1 engineering" university. In 2023, Zhengzhou University ranked 54th in the latest national ranking, and Henan Province ranked 1. The universities before Zhengzhou University in China were Wuhan University of Technology (No.53 in China) and University of Political Science and Law (No.55 in China).

Medical education in Zhengzhou University originated from Sun Yat-sen University in Henan in 1928, and Henan Medical College was established independently in 1952, which opened the precedent of medical higher education in Henan. The former Zhengzhou University, founded in 1956, is the first comprehensive university founded in New China. The 1 1 project is listed in the national "2 1996 project". Zhengzhou University of Technology, founded in 1963, is a key university directly under the former Ministry of Chemical Industry.
