The functional layout of the library is scientific and reasonable, and the functions of "hiding, searching, borrowing, reading and participating" are organically integrated. The collection area consists of an integrated library, a sample reading room and a secret library; The newspaper reading area consists of a newspaper reading room, a back issue reading room and a secret issue library; Digital resource reading area consists of electronic reading room, multifunctional reading area and wireless network coverage area. In addition, there are also functional areas such as general reading area, reserved reading area, seminar reading area, teacher training room, multimedia classroom and lecture hall. There are nearly 5000 reading seats. The library is rich in literature resources, and both physical collections and digital collections are equally important. The subject range of the collected literature covers natural science, social science and humanities, especially the literature in the key disciplines of the school such as ship, ocean and nuclear science, which realizes a comprehensive and distinctive collection system and provides a powerful information resource guarantee for the teaching and scientific research of the school. There are 2 million printed books in the collection, and more than 700 kinds of Chinese and foreign newspapers and periodicals are ordered to be printed every year. We ordered 58 Chinese and foreign databases such as SCI, EI, Elsevier and CNKI, more than 40,000 kinds of full-text electronic journals in Chinese and foreign languages, nearly 900,000 electronic books in Chinese and foreign languages, and more than 3 million electronic dissertations in Chinese and foreign languages.

Through the Huiwen document information service system, the library provides the teachers and students of the whole school with services such as catalogue inquiry, personal borrowing inquiry, book reservation, book renewal and book recommendation. And through the Imagination Star non-book resource management system, it provides all teachers and students with the retrieval and download services of multimedia resources such as CDs attached to books. In addition to providing regular books and periodicals lending services, the library also provides readers' consultation, sci-tech novelty retrieval, inclusion certificate, original text transmission, interlibrary loan, reader training and other services, and offers courses such as information retrieval, information analysis and prediction to graduate students and undergraduates.
