Historical development of the school:

1954, South China Tropical Forestry Research Institute was established with its school in Guangzhou. /kloc-moved to Danzhou in May, 1958 and changed its name to Hainan Branch of South China Agricultural College. 1996, South China Tropical Crops College was renamed as "South China University of Tropical Agriculture". 198 1 year, Hainan Management Committee decided to establish Hainan University and reported it to Guangdong Province and the State Council for approval.
