Guo was born in 1960. Male, from Linzhou, Henan. Han nationality. 1980 was admitted to the history department of Henan university, 1984 graduated with a bachelor's degree in history. In the same year, he obtained a master's degree in modern history of China, studied the history of modern thought in China under Professor Hu Siyong, and graduated from 1987 with a master's degree in history. Master's degree thesis "Geographical research before and after the Opium War". In the same year, I stayed in school to teach. 1990 was admitted to the history department of Beijing Normal University, studied the modern cultural history of China under Professor Gong Shuduo, and graduated from 1993 with a doctorate in history. Doctoral thesis "Geographical Research in Late Qing Dynasty". In the same year, he joined the Teaching and Research Section of Modern and Contemporary History of China in the History Department of Renmin University of China. 1996, director of China Modern History Teaching and Research Section of History Department.
