On July 2018 13, the School of Materials Science and Engineering of China Youshi University (East China) was formally established. The main body is formed by the merger of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and the Department of Materials Physics and Chemistry of the School of Science. In addition, it has attracted relevant teams from other disciplines in the school who are engaged in the research of new energy and new materials. The school has also established a new materials research institute, which is currently under the responsibility of the College of Materials Science and Engineering.

At present, the College of Materials has five undergraduate majors: material forming and control engineering, material science and engineering, material physics, material chemistry and new energy materials and devices. Around the construction of provincial specialties, "national-provincial-university-level" excellent courses and professional laboratories have formed a good talent training platform after years of development; Based on the idea of "consolidating basic theoretical knowledge and enhancing practical innovation ability", student training has trained a large number of professionals with petroleum, petrochemical and energy characteristics.
