Ningxia Institute of Technology, located in Shizuishan City, Ningxia, a northwest heavy industry base and a water town along the lake, is the only university in Shizuishan City. It is a state-owned private undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education, a social teaching practice base for graduate students in Tsinghua University (mainly supporting western universities) and a short-term attachment base for graduate students. Ningxia Institute of Technology is supported by Northeastern University and Zhejiang University of Technology.

Shizuishan City is a prefecture-level city of China people and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Shizuishan, named after the intersection of Helan Mountain and Yellow River, is located in the north of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
