The School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Huazhong University of Science and Technology insists on teaching and talent training as the center, and around the overall requirements of running a school with quality education as the core and all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics, gradually establishes a talent training system for architecture majors that integrates imparting knowledge, cultivating ability and education quality and can meet the needs of social and economic development. The School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Huazhong University of Science and Technology was merged in May 2000 by the former School of Architecture of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the former Department of Planning and Architecture of Wuhan Urban Construction College. It consists of architecture department, urban planning department, art design department, architectural design research institute and urban planning design research institute. Among them, the Department of Architecture consists of the former Department of Architecture of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the former Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of Wuhan Institute of Urban Construction.
