Art College of Jinan University was formally established in March 2005. It is the twentieth professional college of Jinan University, which was founded in the last century.

The college is led by Professor Zhang Tie-Lin, a famous film and television artist and connoisseur of calligraphy and painting. The existing teachers are composed of elites in various fields such as music, fine arts, film and television, and new media design at home and abroad. Jinan University is the first overseas Chinese university founded by the state in China, the first university in China to recruit foreign students, and the largest number of foreign students in China at present. The word "Jin 'an" comes from the article "Shangshu Gong Yu": "The east is gradually in the sea, the west is in quicksand, and the south is combined, and the sound teaches the world." It means facing South Asia and spreading Chinese culture. The school's predecessor was Jinan School, which was founded by the Qing government in Nanjing on 1906. Later, it moved to Shanghai, and 1927 was renamed as National Jinan University.
