Tsinghua University, Taiwan Province Province is located in Songkaqi, Hsinchu, less than 100 km from Taipei, and covers an area of 1.300 mu. 1956 When recruiting the first graduate students of the Institute of Atomic Science, although there was an academic system, there was no shadow of the school. The admitted 2 1 students could only borrow classes from National Taiwan University temporarily. It was not until the second autumn that the first batch of school buildings were completed that Hsinchu began to attend classes. So generally speaking, Tsinghua, Taiwan Province Province started from the Institute of Atomic Science, gradually developed into a university of science and technology, and then expanded to the humanities field. Today, the school has 7 colleges, 17 departments and 18 independent research institutes, making it one of the best universities in Taiwan Province province. Interestingly, the introduction of the history of the school began in Tsinghua, Beijing, and the school motto is to strive for self-improvement, be virtuous and carry things, just like Beijing and Tsinghua. A friend in Taiwan Province Province said that students in Tsinghua, Taiwan Province Province are more humane.
1949 years later, the prestigious national Tsinghua University was divided into two parts by history, facing each other across the sea. 19551February, Tsinghua University, Taiwan Province Province started running a school in Hsinchu, which was presided over by Mei Yiqi, president of Tsinghua University, who was brought to Taiwan Province Province by the Kuomintang authorities in China in the winter of 1948. First, the Institute of Atomic Science was established to recruit graduate students, and 1957 officially began to recruit undergraduate students. Mei Yiqi is the principal of Tsinghua University in Beijing and the first principal of Tsinghua University in Taiwan Province. Today, Tsinghua University in Taiwan Province Province has also developed into a well-known comprehensive university of science, engineering and liberal arts, which is equally famous with Beijing and Tsinghua.
Professor Liu Jionglang, former president of Tsinghua University, Taiwan Province Province, said in an interview with Newsweek that there are more than 8,000 students in Tsinghua, Hsinchu, and more than 22,000 students in Tsinghua, Beijing. There are more than 500 professors in Tsinghua, Hsinchu, about 2,000 professors in Tsinghua, Beijing, and about 360 hectares in Tsinghua Campus of Hsinchu. The size of the two schools is roughly between three to one and four to one.
The buildings on the campus in Tsinghua University, Taiwan Province Province are all very new, not as antique as those in Beijing and Tsinghua. But it is enough to prove that it is the same strain as Beijing and Tsinghua, and it can be seen everywhere. In front of the school administration building stands a Tsinghua campus gatehouse. Anyone who has seen the gates of the two schools will feel deja vu, because they are exactly the same as those in Beijing, but the size is reduced. The external wall of the comprehensive service building is inlaid with: self-improvement, kindness and morality. Eight Chinese characters are the school motto of Tsinghua on both sides of the strait. Tsinghua campus has mountains and waters, from Xiang Si Lake at the top of the mountain to Kunming Lake and Chenggong Lake at the foot of the mountain. There are streams connecting several lakes, with flowing water and fragrant lotus flowers. Egrets often pass by the lake, which makes people easily think of the scene written by Mr. Zhu Ziqing in Moonlight on the Lotus Pond. While the western hills are gray and the East China Sea is vast, our school is solemn and stands in the center! Our school song is often sung by students on both sides of the Tsinghua. There is also a plum garden in Tsinghua University campus, which contains Mei Yiqi's cemetery. Mr. Mei died when he was the president of Tsinghua University in May 1962, and was buried in Meiyuan in the same year1KLOC-0/month. The garden is full of plum blossoms. Looking at the inscription on the tombstone, we can see that it was written by Jiang Menglin, an old friend of Mr. Mei and former president of Peking University.
Mei Yiqi has a famous saying: A great scholar is not an architecture, but a master. Tsinghua University in Beijing is the most prestigious university, with a large number of talents in the past 90 years, while Tsinghua University in Taiwan Province Province has cultivated a Nobel Prize winner in less than 50 years, which must be closely related to Mr. Mei, the inheritor of Tsinghua on both sides of the strait.
Shen Junshan, former president of Tsinghua University, Taiwan Province Province, once said that there was indeed a proposal to change the name of Tsinghua University, Taiwan Province Province, such as adding Taiwan Province Province or International to the current name, but it was rejected by most alumni.
